Yvonne Nelson Speaks On Past Relationships With Sarkodie, Others

Award-winning Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson, has recently made a revelation that has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry. In her newly launched book, “I am not Yvonne Nelson,” she opens up about a deeply personal and tumultuous chapter of her life.

Nelson discloses that she chose to terminate a pregnancy in 2010, which was conceived during a short relationship with the renowned rapper, Sarkodie.

The revelation took place during the book launch event at Peduase Lodge in Ghana, where Nelson shared her story. In the book’s eighth chapter, pages 88-95, she vividly narrates the emotional journey she embarked upon upon discovering her pregnancy.

In the company of her friend Karen, she underwent a pregnancy test that confirmed her worst fear. Unable to summon the courage to open the results, Karen stepped in and delivered the unexpected verdict.

The news hit Nelson like a thunderbolt. She recounts how her world was suddenly turned upside down by this grim revelation. However, she acknowledges that she was not solely responsible for the situation and mustered the courage to reach out to the man involved, Sarkodie, whose real name is Michael Owusu Addo.

At that time, Sarkodie was a budding musician, still struggling to find his place in the industry. Uncertainty clouded his future, and he was not prepared to shoulder the burden of a child while still relying on his mother for support.

Nelson emphasizes that their relationship had not reached the level of seriousness one might associate with long-term commitment. Nonetheless, their connection grew stronger, fueled by a mutual love for music and a shared journey through life’s challenges.

Desperate to abort the pregnancy, Nelson tried various concoctions recommended by a colleague, but her efforts proved futile. The subsequent test confirmed that she was still carrying the child. Reflecting on the decision to terminate the pregnancy, Nelson shares her internal struggle.

She grew up without a father, and the uncertainty surrounding her own parentage haunted her. She couldn’t bear the thought of subjecting another innocent life to a similar fate.

In her book, Nelson bares her soul and admits that aborting the pregnancy remains one of the most regrettable mistakes of her life. She candidly reflects on the internal conflicts she faced and the turmoil of that period. Looking back, she expresses a deep sense of remorse, emphasizing that if she could turn back time, she would have made a different choice.

Yvonne Nelson’s revelation exposes the complexities of life, relationships, and the profound impact of personal circumstances.

It serves as a reminder that even public figures face internal struggles and make decisions they may later come to regret. Nelson’s honesty in sharing her story encourages discussions on reproductive choices and prompts a broader conversation about the challenges women face in society.

As the world processes Yvonne Nelson’s confession, it is crucial to approach the topic with empathy and understanding.

Ultimately, her story serves as a testament to the strength of character, growth, and the possibility of redemption for those who are willing to confront their past and learn from their mistakes.
