Kizz Daniel ft Tekno- Buga 

Throughout the year, Kizz Daniel’s song ‘Buga’ became the song of the moment with trends on Tiktok at 2.4m, and on social media as a challenge.

No doubt, Kizz Daniel has had a great reputation for dishing spicy viral hits since he entered the music scene. ‘Buga’ was recently rated the world’s top five Afrobeat trending globally. This report is according to Shazam, an app that identifies music, which has tagged the single as Most Shazamed Song in the world. In just 5months, Buga bagged a smashing 103 million views on youtube. 


Pheelz ft Buju(BNXN) – Finesse


Nigerian producer turned artist Pheelz, became one of the big names in the Nigerian Music industry, this year.“Finesse” spawned the #FolakeChallenge on TikTok, where a chunk of users depict sticky financial situations in the spirit of the song’s Pidgin lyric, “If I broke na my business.” To date, TikTok’s #FolakeChallenge, signaling the use of “Finesse” in accompanying videos, has earned over 31 million views. In 8 months, the official video has 59 million views on Youtube.

Asake ft Burna Boy- Sungba 



Asake won over our hearts and ears. For someone who started with a series of freestyles, song covers, and more, he’s currently operating in a lane that many new artists would long for, as he garners the attention of music industry heavyweights on his rise. 

“Sungba” is an upbeat number that draws influences from South Africa’s House music and subtly pairs this with the melodic kicks from infectious Afrobeat drums. “Sungba Remix” is an enjoyable listening experience with Burna Boy’s verse serving as a welcoming cherry on top of an already solid record. This single has over 30 million views on Youtube. 


Burna Boy- Last Last 


While there are many songs we could’ve picked from the stellar 19-song album, Love Damini, our choice is “Last Last.” 

Last Last, is an emboldening heartbreak song, thanks to Burna’s earnest vocals and lyrics. He reflects on a bygone lover: “She manipulates my love oh.” It’s a great example of how to sample from the 2000s: he makes Toni Braxton’s He Wasn’t Man Enough for Me his own.

The African Giant made his directorial debut with this single, recording, 135million views on Youtube. 


Ayra Starr- Rush


Ayra Starr showed her musical dexterity, this year In her hit single, “Rush.” Rush became a trending Naija song, played at parties, weddings, and other events.
The Mavin records singer put everyone on a sugar ‘ Rush’ with her new single; the song discusses a range of themes, most notably boasting about her money and the necessity to grind every day to preserve her status.

 Produced by Henri Velasco and Andre Vibez, Rush served as her first single since her debut album “19 and Dangerous”, and also gained 45 million views in just 2months on Youtube

Fireboy ft Asake- Bandana


YBNL star Fireboy DML connected with the buzzing Asake for “Bandana,” an inspirational and thankful tune in which Fireboy counts his blessings while telling his story. “Bandana” is built on a guitar riff and afrobeat-inspired percussion. 

It is among those rare songs with a fine combination of everything, threaded immaculately through the famous backstories of its two creators. This hit anthem has over 40 million views on Youtube. 

Ruger- Girlfriend 


With over 25 Million views on Youtube, Superstar Ruger got us all dancing to arguably one of the most toxic songs ever recorded in Nigeria. Ruger delivered an uptempo record, “Girlfriend” which portrayed his versatility and addiction to the Afro Dancehall genre. The song, “Girlfriend” is a retentive song that has a magical hook and verses. 


Oxlade- Ku Lo Sa

Oxlade followed the COLORS SHOW performance with a lush lyrics video which allowed fans to sing along to his infectious rhymes. The video which has currently amassed 7 million views and counting, continues to show audiences’ fascination with the song and its propulsive rhythm. The song has now quite literally taken on a life of its own, making its way into our hearts and ears from its near-constant replays across social media and in-person activities.

As the track continues to pick up steam, Oxlade continues to break new ceilings. Recently, “KU LO SA (A COLORS SHOW)” is the greatest gainer on the global Spotify charts in the last week as it climbed up 20 spots to #163 with a gain of 905K streams. Currently, the “Ku Lo Sa” sound has also been viewed over 641.9M times on TikTok, pushing the song and its maker to new audiences and new markets. It also comfortably sits at No.10 on the TurnTable Top 100, ascending from its previously held position at No.21.


Mayorkun- Certified Loner(No Competition)



Mayorkun shared his first drop of the year with “Certified Loner (No Competition).” This song took over TikTok and gained a whopping 5.6 million views in 5months on Youtube. The Mayor of Lagos rarely disappoints and he delivers once again here with this amapiano-inspired tune.

 


Young John- Xtra Cool

Talented Nigerian record producer and singer, Young Jonn, blessed us with hits this year and made all of us wonder why he lingered behind the scenes all this while. 

 Xtra Cool, a perfect party starter, with mind-blowing lyrics and rhythms recorded 4.9 Million views in 2 months on youtube.
