JAMB To Release 2024 UTME Results This Week

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced its intention to prosecute an individual named Ejikeme Mmesoma for manipulating her Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) score from 249 to 362.

Mmesoma falsely presented herself as the top scorer for the 2023 UTME. JAMB has condemned such fraudulent practices and emphasized that candidates parading fake results will face legal consequences.

This revelation comes as part of JAMB’s efforts to expose dishonest practices surrounding the UTME and protect the integrity of the examination process.

In a statement released by JAMB’s spokesperson, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, it was revealed that Ejikeme Mmesoma deliberately inflated her UTME score to deceive the public and gain illegitimate benefits such as scholarships and recognition.

JAMB expressed its disappointment and referred to Mmesoma’s case as particularly regrettable, as she had been awarded a N3 million scholarship by businessman Chief Innocent Chukwuma and was set to be honoured by the Anambra State Government.

However, upon verification, it was discovered that Mmesoma had actually scored 249, not the claimed 362. JAMB addressed the issue of candidates falsely celebrating high scores in the 2023 UTME and clarified that many of the results being paraded were fake.

The board highlighted the use of manipulative software packages employed by some candidates to deceive the public. The examination body emphasized its commitment to setting the record straight and warned that candidates who misrepresented their scores would face serious consequences.

Ejikeme Mmesoma will face prosecution for her fraudulent actions, and JAMB has announced its decision to withdraw her original result.

The examination body stated that it would thoroughly investigate all candidates who claimed higher scores than they actually achieved. Once any discrepancy is discovered, the original results will be promptly withdrawn, and the individuals will be handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution.

JAMB’s firm stance sends a strong message that dishonesty will not be tolerated and attempts to manipulate UTME results will be met with severe consequences.

In addition to Ejikeme Mmesoma’s manipulation, JAMB exposed the case of Atung Gerald from Kaduna State. Despite never sitting for the exam, Gerald claimed to have scored 380.

JAMB clarified that Atung had never even obtained the necessary UTME application documents, let alone participated in the examination.

This revelation serves as further evidence of individuals attempting to deceive the system and highlights the importance of robust verification processes
