Uber Responds To Viral Video Of Driver’s Sexual Attempt

Ride-hailing giant Uber has confirmed that it is cooperating with law enforcement authorities following the circulation of a video that appears to show a driver attempting to sexually assault a female passenger.

The short clip, which has been shared widely on social media, shows a man confronting the half-dressed driver in the back seat of a blue vehicle, with the passenger appearing to be unconscious.

In response to the video, which has been viewed more than 16.8 million times and retweeted over 8,000 times on Twitter, Uber released a statement on Tuesday confirming that it was aware of the incident and was assisting the police with their investigation. The company also claimed that it had banned the driver in question.

In the video, which does not include any audio, the driver can be seen sitting in the back seat of the car with his pants down. When he notices the person filming, he quickly pulls his pants up and climbs into the front seat.

A woman with blonde hair can be seen slumped against the seat next to him. The video also shows the license plate number of the vehicle.

It is currently unclear when or where the incident took place, although the steering wheel of the car is located on the right-hand side, suggesting that it may have occurred outside of the United States.

It is also unknown if any charges have been filed against the driver, and the identity of the woman in the video remains unknown.

This is not the first time that Uber has faced criticism for its handling of incidents involving sexual assault or harassment. The company has been accused of failing to adequately screen its drivers and failing to take appropriate action when incidents are reported.

However, Uber has recently introduced a number of measures designed to improve passenger safety, including more stringent background checks for drivers and the introduction of a 911 button within the app.
