IPOB Refutes Alleged One-Week Sit-at-Home In South-East

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has once again categorically denied declaring a one-week sit-at-home exercise across the South-East region.

The pro-Biafran group emphasized the need to clarify this matter due to the tension and panic that the rumours have caused. In recent days, there have been widespread rumours about a one-week sit-at-home, supposedly declared by the faction of IPOB led by Simon Ekpa.

These rumors have circulated throughout the South-East region. However, IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, addressed the situation in a statement on Monday, urging residents of the South-East to ignore the “rabble-rousers” and confirming that there is no such sit-at-home order.

The statement clarified, “The leadership of the IPOB, the Directorate of State, and the supreme leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu wish to publicly disassociate IPOB from any purported call for a one-week sit-at-home for Biafrans.

These clarifications have become necessary because Biafrans have sent inquiries asking if the IPOB leadership has called for a sit-at-home.

IPOB is not part of such irresponsible order from government-paid agents whose agenda is to ridicule the struggle to restore Biafra sovereignty.”

IPOB emphasized that the rumoured one-week sit-at-home is not genuine and urged Biafrans to disregard the claims. The group stressed that it is a responsible movement working towards peace and freedom for the people, not intending to inflict further suffering.

They condemned those who spread the false order, referring to them as thieves with the mission to rob, kill, and destroy. The group highlighted that the leadership of IPOB, including Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, consists of intellectuals who employ strategic approaches.

They asserted that IPOB would not engage in activities that negatively impact the people. The statement also alleged that certain agents, including those based in the diaspora, unknowingly serve the interests of enemies of Biafra by perpetuating suffering among Biafrans and attempting to make the Biafra agitation unattractive. IPOB declared that such efforts are doomed to fail.

IPOB urged the public to dismiss any rumours about a one-week sit-at-home in the South-East, asserting that those behind such orders are not genuine members of IPOB and are not acting on behalf of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

The group reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the cause of Biafra while prioritizing the welfare of the people.
