‘Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey’ Sequel Scores Multiple International Sales Deals

The highly anticipated sequel to one of the most talked-about indie films of the past year has secured multiple international sales deals. “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” a microbudget creature slasher, captivated audiences with its daring reinterpretation of A. A. Milne’s beloved children’s story.

Despite its minimal budget of under $100,000, the film garnered global attention and grossed over $6 million worldwide.

Riding on this success, Premiere Entertainment, the distributor that sold out all territories with theatrical components for the original film, has wasted no time in generating interest for the follow-up, with several distributors eagerly jumping on board for another round of blood-soaked horror.

The sequel, “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey,” has already secured distribution deals in various regions. Cinemex has acquired the rights for Mexico and Latin America, while Plaion will distribute the film in Germany and Italy.

Crome Films has obtained the rights for France, Movie Company for Benelux, Njuta Films for Scandinavia, Voxell Films for Russia/CIS, Umbrella for Australia and New Zealand, Phoenicia for the Middle East, BG Film for Turkey, AV-Jet for Taiwan, and PictureWorks for India and airline screenings.

The slasher franchise revolves around the twisted journey of Winnie and his sidekick Piglet, who have transformed into feral beasts after being abandoned in the wilderness by their former companion, Christopher Robin. Together, they embark on a chilling killing spree within the once peaceful Hundred Acre Wood.

Principal photography for the sequel is scheduled to commence in the fall, and details about the plot are being kept tightly under wraps. It is anticipated that the production will boast a significantly larger budget compared to its predecessor, allowing for even more ambitious storytelling and production values.

Rhys Frake-Waterfield will return as the writer and director, while Jagged Edge Productions, led by Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey, will handle production. Stuart Alson and Nicole Holland will serve as executive producers for ITN Studios, and ITN will oversee distribution in North America.

Movie enthusiasts and horror fans alike eagerly await the release of “Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey.” With its unique take on a beloved childhood tale and the promise of an elevated cinematic experience, this sequel is poised to captivate audiences once again, proving that even the most innocent stories can be transformed into terrifying nightmares on the silver screen.
