In this article, we delve deeper into Mohbad’s life and the circumstances surrounding his tragic passing, as revealed by his grieving widow.

Omowunmi Aloba began her testimony by recounting that Mohbad had, in many ways, already died long before his official declaration as deceased.

She cited a series of troubling incidents that had taken a toll on him. Among these were instances of bullying, psychological trauma, and his run-ins with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).

On the afternoon of his tragic demise, Mohbad had requested that the air conditioner in his room be turned on, as he was feeling unwell after taking a shower. When the AC failed to function, Omowunmi and others rushed him to their son’s room.

She recalled being in the kitchen at the time and arriving to find a nurse injecting him. Mohbad,  was heard instructing the nurse to remove the syringe.

It was at this juncture that they decided to rush him to the hospital. Omowunmi described him as sitting in the back seat of the car, and she became alarmed when the driver informed her that his hands had already gone cold.

In a desperate bid to save her husband, she quickly arranged for a motorcycle to transport him to the hospital, all while holding on to hope that he would recover.

This incident left her in disbelief, as she had spoken to Mohbad just 20 minutes before, and he had assured her they would take their son for a five-month photo shoot after the injection.

The day before his passing, Mohbad had performed at a show where he was accompanied by a group of approximately ten people. While he was performing, Omowunmi and their baby remained in the car.

After his performance, Mohbad expressed his exhaustion and desire to return home. However, he was asked to wait for other artists to finish their performances, resulting in an hour-long delay.

Inside the car, a dispute between Mohbad and his younger brother escalated when one of Mohbad’s friends, Owodunni Ibrahim, known as Prime Boy, intervened, deeming it unacceptable for Mohbad’s brother to disrespect him.

A physical altercation ensued between Prime Boy and Mohbad, which prompted Omowunmi to seek assistance from Mohbad’s colleagues to break up the fight. By the time she returned, the quarrel had been resolved, though Mohbad had suffered a minor injury to his elbow after striking the car window.

The nurse who administered the fatal injection had been treating Mohbad for two years. This particular injection was given on his shoulder.

After a encounter with NDLEA on February 22, 2022, where he was assaulted and shot in the head, Mohbad had developed a deep-seated fear of hospitals. Omowunmi herself had been physically mistreated by the NDLEA when she questioned the circumstances surrounding her husband’s harassment.

The aftermath of the NDLEA incident left Mohbad struggling with paranoia and memory loss, to the extent that he forgot his phone password. After Mohbad’s passing, Omowunmi was left in the dark about the whereabouts of his burial site or the mortuary.

Omowunmi disclosed that she had been subjected to threats following her husband’s death, forcing her to wear a face mask whenever she ventured out.

She revealed that Mohbad had been planning to fly their son to Canada, seeking a better future for their child. His determination to secure a brighter future for their son led to his visa application, as he wished for their son, Liam, not to celebrate his first birthday in Nigeria.
