In a series of teaser videos, at the 2024 Super Bowl Beyonce has announced the long-awaited Part II of her 2022 “Renaissance” album — and as long rumoured, it appears to be a country-leaning album, due March 29.

From scrolling through songs on an iPhone to a clever lemonade stand reference (a nod to her iconic 2016 album), the teasers were replete with playful twists on her name, including “Barbey” and “BOTUS” (hinting at her aspirations to be the first female president and the first woman in space).

Suddenly, Beyoncé declared, “OK, they ready — drop the new music. I told y’all the ‘Renaissance’ is not over,” leaving fans eagerly awaiting the impending musical feast.

The final teaser video, unveiled on Beyoncé’s Instagram page, revealed the album title and release date, accompanied by a range imagery including billboards and a license plate reading “Texas Hold ‘Em,” possibly hinting at a song title and paying homage to her home state.

Shortly after the unveiling, fans were treated to not one but two new songs on streaming platforms, making their debut on Tidal, owned by Jack Dorsey, who Beyoncé and Jay-Z were seated with at the Super Bowl. True to the country-leaning theme, “Texas Hold ‘Em” boasts an acoustic arrangement, driven by guitars and bass drum, with a chorus inviting listeners to join a lively hoedown.

The second offering, “16 Carriages,” marries country elements with epic orchestral flourishes, showcasing Beyoncé’s versatility and flair for genre-blending. Both tracks feature contributions from seasoned producer Raphael Saadiq, renowned for his work with D’Angelo and Beyoncé’s sister Solange.

For Beyoncé enthusiasts, the anticipation has been palpable since the release of “Renaissance” in 2022, which marked the first instalment of a promised three-part project.

While the initial album leaned heavily into dance and house music, fans speculated about the inclusion of country tracks, unsure if they would be part of “Renaissance” or a separate release.

Unlike her previous projects, which often came accompanied by full-length films and music videos, “Renaissance” arrived without visuals. However, Beyoncé compensated by capturing the essence of her record-breaking world tour in the theatrical release of “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé,” offering fans a glimpse behind the scenes of her global journey. With the surprise drop of two new songs, Beyoncé has reignited excitement and speculation among fans
