Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and other senior officials, died in a helicopter crash in East Azerbaijan province. Iran’s vice president for executive affairs, Mohsen Mansouri, showed his condolences by posting a Koranic verse on his official  X (formerly Twitter) handle. State television broadcast images of Raisi with a background of Koranic recitation.

Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi

Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi reported that the helicopter had made a “hard landing” due to bad weather conditions. He encouraged citizens to rely on official channels for information, discouraging the consumption of news from foreign media.

Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei reassured the nation, urging them not to worry about the country’s leadership. He emphasized that there would be no disruption in the functioning of the Islamic Republic.
