Eyewitnesses recounted the terrifying incident that rocked the Ace Mall business complex and echoed across the ancient city.

Addressing the calamity, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, conveyed in a statement on Tuesday that Governor Seyi Makinde swiftly responded by deploying security service chiefs, para-military leaders, and fire operatives to contain the aftermath of the explosion.

The commissioner’s statement explained, “Residents of Ibadan and the immediate environs experienced an uncommon explosion around 8 pm this evening”.

“There are various interpretations of the incident, but it is important for us to state categorically that the state government has taken over and is in full control of the unfortunate occurrence to mitigate the incident.”

Governor Seyi Makinde, through the deployed security forces, is actively working to manage the situation and prevent further spillover. In a bid to reassure the citizens, the governor implores them to remain calm, assuring them that their interests are a top priority during this challenging time.

“All security service chiefs including para military chiefs and fire operatives have been deployed by the governor to reign-in the spillover from the explosion.

“His Excellency Governor Seyi Makinde therefore implores citizens to calm down and rest assured that their interests are being looked after.”
