Lipa, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts, withdrew her candidacy, while festival organizers reportedly opted against Shakira. A notable absence from the lineup is Rage Against the Machine, who were initially scheduled to headline the 2020 installment. Despite a relaunched reunion tour in 2022, the band faced setbacks due to a serious knee injury to singer Zach de la Rocha, leading to indefinite postponement of their planned dates.
Drummer Brad Wilk’s recent announcement that the group “will not be touring or playing live again” puts any future Coachella performances in doubt.
