Yvonne Jegede ‘Yul Did Nothing Wrong'

Nollywood actress, Yvonne Jegede, has come to the defense of actor, Yul Edochie, amid the backlash he faced for taking a second wife. Speaking on the Honest Bunch podcast, Jegede stated that she saw nothing wrong with Edochie’s decision to embrace polygamy.

Jegede spoke on the irony of the criticism Edochie has received, noting that many of his critics come from polygamous backgrounds themselves. “You see this same Yul Edochie, 99% of people abusing him on the Internet are from second, third, fourth, and even fifth wives,” she said. “Some of them come from wives the family doesn’t even know about. Let’s all stop being silly on the Internet.”

“Why are we cursing the guy? They would curse him and leave Ned Nwoko alone, saying Regina Daniels is your prayer point and she’s the only one who can advise you about marriage. These are the comments I see.”

Yvonne Jegede further defended Edochie by acknowledging his honesty. “He is owning his BS with his chest but nobody is going to support him. Even me, I have to stand with the crowd so they don’t curse me. I don’t see anything he’s done wrong; most of us are from second wives.”

Yul Edochie was married to May Yul-Edochie for 19 years before marrying Judy Austin. May Yul-Edochie filed for divorce in 2023 on the grounds of adultery, seeking ₦100 million in damages.
