The primary conditions for their bail include surrendering their international passports, ensuring that both Naira Marley and Sam Larry remain within the confines of Nigeria.

Additionally, they are obligated to make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department, a requirement aimed at closely monitoring their activities during this legal process.

Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun, who presided over the case, issued a stern warning regarding any attempts to contact her with regard to the proceedings, stating that such interactions would be meticulously documented and potentially disclosed in court.

The duo’s legal predicament began when they were remanded in police custody on October 6, 2023, following their alleged involvement in the cyberstalking, bullying, and assault of the late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, known as Mohbad, who tragically passed away under mysterious circumstances on September 12, 2023.

In response to their detention by the Nigerian police, Naira Marley and Sam Larry filed a lawsuit against the police, seeking ₦20 million each in damages for the prolonged period of detention.

Their legal representatives argued that their ordeal began on October 3 and 4, 2023, when they were apprehended by the police on suspicion of involvement in Mohbad’s death. Subsequently, the Commissioner of Police sought a remand order in the Magistrates’ Court at Yaba on October 4, 2023, requesting a 30-day detention period.

Chief Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun approved the police’s application for a 21-day remand, which began on October 6, 2023, and concluded on October 26, 2023.

As of now, this remand order has not been renewed, paving the way for their bail application and potential progress in the legal proceedings. The case has garnered significant attention and will continue to be closely monitored as it unfolds.
