At a pre-departure reception held in Abuja, Montgomery extended his heartfelt congratulations to the successful candidates, emphasizing that their presence at this juncture was a testament to their perseverance and tenacity.

Montgomery’s address to the scholars carried a resounding call to action, urging them to pursue excellence in their chosen fields of study while also assuming the role of exemplary ambassadors for Nigeria during their time in the UK. He encouraged them to seize every available opportunity for personal and academic growth, fostering cross-cultural exchanges and nurturing robust networks.

The British High Commissioner’s message resonated with a plea to utilize their experiences and knowledge to drive positive change in both their homeland and the global community.

Among the recipients, Michael Oyedoyin, an aspiring scholar awarded the Commonwealth Scholarship, expressed his enthusiasm for enrolling in the Family and Child Psychology master’s program at the University of Chester, UK. Oyedoyin’s decision to pursue this specific academic path was fuelled by his aspiration to extend comprehensive support to his students beyond the confines of traditional classrooms.

Drawing from his background in Teacher Education, he recognized that underlying family dynamics often influenced students’ academic performance and attendance.

Oyedoyin’s poignant statement highlighted the essence of his chosen course, underscoring the critical importance of addressing familial issues to create a conducive learning environment. By equipping himself with advanced psychological insights, he aims to better understand and cater to his students’ needs, ensuring their holistic growth and development.
