Harrysong Calls Out Former Boss KCEE Over Royalties Dispute

Renowned Nigerian singer-songwriter, Harrysong, known for his chart-topping hits, has turned to the public for assistance in his ongoing royalties dispute with his former label boss, KCEE of Five Star Records.

Taking to his social media accounts, Harrysong posted on his Instagram story, revealing that KCEE has allegedly withheld 100% of the royalties for some of his major hits produced under the label.

Notable tracks affected include ‘Reggae Blues,’ ‘Baba For The Girls,’ ‘Samankwe,’ ‘Better Pikin,’ and ‘Ofeshe.’Expressing his plea to the public, Harrysong wrote, “At least he can take his percentage and give me what is rightfully mine.”

The singer is seeking support from the Nigerian community to join him in urging KCEE to refund his money and release his songs.

Recall that in 2017, former label mates Kcee and Harrysong were entangled in a legal and social media drama following Harrysong’s exit from the Five Star music label. Their dispute was, however, publicly settled by veteran musician Daddy Showkey and Kcee seemingly gave Harrysong his blessings for his new record label.

However, in an unexpected twist, Kcee filed new charges against Harrysong with their former manager Soso Soberekon also named as a co-respondent.

Harrysong shared a copy of the legal document on his Instagram page and captioned:

Harrysong Calls Out Former Boss KCEE Over Royalties Dispute

“I have never seen where a lady is gang r@ped and beaten up mercilessly and at same time asked not to cry. Even though you and I know you offended me, I listened to the voice of elders and appologized to you despite all the opression, yet my success causes you running stomach. And to my fans out there, please brace up for impact, since they have decided to hold us down by all means, We are ready to prove them wrong by all means…, less I forget, help me ask them, what is my crime this time? #ArabankoDropsTomorrow #altersoldiers#alterlovers #alterbase1”

This development adds to the growing trend of disputes between artists and labels in the Nigerian music industry over unpaid royalties. Recently, Dami Krane accused Davido of withholding royalties for a collaborative song.

Despite denials from Davido and producer Shizzi, it was clarified that the song in question belonged to Dami Krane.

In a similar vein, Mohbad, the late Street Hop star who parted ways with Marlian Records, revealed that he had yet to receive any royalties for his records released under the label.

Harrysong’s public appeal highlights the challenges artists face in securing their rightful earnings in the industry.

As the call for transparency and fairness in music contracts grows louder, the Nigerian music scene is witnessing a surge in artists seeking justice for unpaid royalties, emphasizing the need for comprehensive industry reforms.
