Kendrick Lamar Set New Spotify Record

Kendrick’s latest single, ‘Not Like Us,’ released on May 5th, 2024, has broken records on Spotify, marking the biggest single-day stream for a hip-hop song in the United States. The beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar reaches another milestone.

With 6.593 million streams on its debut day, ‘Not Like Us’ surpasses Drake’s 2021 hit ‘Girls Want Girls’ featuring Lil Baby, which previously held the record. The timing couldn’t be more important, as Kendrick’s track serves as the final instalment in a series of diss tracks aimed at Drake.

The feud between the two rappers began when Kendrick took shots at Drake on Metro Booming & Future’s ‘Like That,’ igniting a public debate. J Cole initially jumped into the mix with ‘7th Minute Drill,’ only to later extend an olive branch to Kendrick during his 2024 Dreamville concert, publicly apologizing for his earlier statements.

Meanwhile, Drake fired back with ‘Push Up’ and ‘Taylor Made Freestyle,’ prompting Kendrick to respond with ‘Euphoria’ and ‘Meet The Grahams.’ The feud has been marked by a total of eight diss tracks, each escalating the tension with disturbing allegations touching on sensitive subjects, like pedophilia and domestic abuse.
