Cardi B Wins $24 Million Civil Assault Trial

September 3, 2025

Grammy-winning rapper Cardi B has been cleared in a $24 million civil assault lawsuit filed by a former security guard, Emani Ellis. The case stemmed from allegations that the WAP hitmaker physically attacked Ellis and used racial slurs inside a Beverly Hills medical office in February 2018.

Jury Rules in Cardi B’s Favor

On Tuesday, 2nd September 2025, a Los Angeles jury unanimously ruled that Cardi B was not liable for the accusations. Ellis, who filed the lawsuit in 2020, demanded $24 million in damages but failed to prove her claims in court.

Cardi B Responds After Verdict

Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, Cardi B expressed relief over the decision: “I did not touch that woman,” she said. “The next time someone files a frivolous lawsuit against me, I’m going to countersue. This is not okay.”

She also addressed the misconception that celebrities easily settle lawsuits: “People think because you’re famous, you’ll just hand out money. I work hard for my kids and the people I take care of. I’m not giving it away just because someone asks.”

What This Means for Cardi B

The verdict marks another legal win for Cardi B, who has faced multiple lawsuits throughout her career but continues to defend her name successfully. Fans celebrated online, calling it a major victory for the rapper and a warning against false claims targeting celebrities.
