A spokesperson for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas characterized the air raid as nothing short of “genocide” and labelled it a “humanitarian catastrophe” and “hideous war massacre”. In response, President Abbas withdrew from a previously scheduled meeting with US President Joe Biden, who was slated to visit the region.

Egypt:

The Egyptian government issued a stern statement, denouncing the attack in the strongest possible terms. Egypt called upon the international community to intervene and prevent further violations.

Jordan:

The Jordanian foreign ministry strongly denounced Israel’s attack on the hospital, emphasizing the critical need for international protection of Palestinian civilians and an immediate cessation of hostilities. King Abdullah II of Jordan referred to the bombing as a “massacre” and a “war crime” that could not be met with silence.

World Health Organization (WHO):

The director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, strongly condemned the attack on Al Ahli Arab Hospital. He expressed profound concern about the significant loss of life and injuries. WHO called for the immediate protection of civilians and healthcare facilities, along with a reversal of evacuation orders.

Qatar:

Qatar’s foreign ministry voiced alarm over the escalation of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, especially when they target hospitals, schools, and civilian areas. The ministry stated that such actions constituted a dangerous escalation of the ongoing conflict.

Arab League:

Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the head of the Arab League, demanded immediate action from international leaders to halt this tragedy. He questioned the morality of intentionally bombing a hospital and its defenseless inhabitants. Aboul Gheit pledged that Arab mechanisms would document these war crimes, and the perpetrators would be held accountable.

Turkey:

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan denounced the attack as a flagrant violation of basic human values. He decried the hospital strike, which included women, children, and innocent civilians, as an example of Israel’s brutal attacks and called on humanity to take action against this unprecedented brutality in Gaza.

Iran:

Iran’s foreign ministry characterized the air raid as an attack on “unarmed and defenseless people.” Iranian state media reported their strong condemnation of the horrific event, adding their voice to the global chorus of outrage.

Canada:

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau expressed his horror and unequivocal condemnation of the attack. He stressed the importance of respecting international law, particularly in conflict situations. Trudeau underlined that there are established rules governing warfare, and targeting a hospital is unacceptable.

As world leaders and organizations unite in condemnation, the focus remains on finding a resolution to the ongoing conflict and ending the suffering endured by the Palestinian people.
