Newstide appoints Ambassador Ejeviome Otobo Board Director

Ahead of the launch of its independent online business newspaper, Prime Business, multimedia company Newstide Publications has appointed Ambassador Ejeviome Eloho Otobo a Director of its Board. He was also appointed Editorial Board member of Prime Business.

Ambassador Otobo joined the United Nations after a distinguished career in the diplomatic service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. During the course of his diplomatic career, he served on the Policy Planning Staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, represented Nigeria in several countries, and participated in various bilateral political and multilateral economic negotiations.

Ambassador Otobo served from 2014-2016, as a member of the External Experts Advisory Board of the Informing Conflict Prevention, Resolution and Response: The Role of Media in Violent Conflict (INFOCORE) Project funded by the European Union’s Seventh Framework Programme for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration.

Ambassador Otobo is widely published and his areas of research interest and writing include peacebuilding, public service reforms, institutional development, governance, regulatory policy and management, and international trade. He co-edited African Development in the 21st Century: Adebayo Adedeji’s Theories and Contributions (2015) as well as authored Consolidating Peace in Africa: The Role of the United Nations Peacebuilding Commission (2015) and Africa in Transition: A New Way of Looking at Progress in the Region (2017), which was nominated for the Grand Prix of Literary Associations Award, 2018 in the Research category.

As an expert on economic and corporate governance, the African Development Bank has invited Ambassador Otobo twice to contribute to their flagship reports: The 2007 African Development Report — Natural Resources for Sustainable Development in Africa and the 2001 African Development Report — Fostering Good Governance in Africa. He has also consulted for the African Union Mission to the United Nations in New York on issues of peacebuilding.

Ambassador Otobo’s articles have been published by The Guardian, Thisday, The Nation, Premium Times, in Nigeria; as well as Jeune Afrique (Paris) and Financial Times (London).

Ambassador Otobo holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and a Master’s degree in Public Administration (with international political economy, as area of policy concentration) from Harvard Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA.

Newstide is set to unveil Prime Business on the 22nd of June, 2021, by 2pm at a widely publicised virtual launch to be moderated by former Guardian Editor, Mr. Jahman Anikulapo. Board Chairman of Newstide, Dr. Bongo Adi will be speaking on the theme “Debt Burden and Quest for Economic Recovery”. Other panelists are Ambassador Eloho Otobo, Prof. Pat Utomi, and Eloine Barry.
