The Purchase

Ogbonna snagged the property at a discounted price of £15 million, down from the original £17 million price tag in 2022. This savvy purchase is one of only two deals completed on the street this year, amidst a slowdown in the luxury market. Another property on the avenue sold for £8.8 million in June.

Ogbonna’s Credentials

As the CEO of Access Bank, Ogbonna has been instrumental in driving the bank’s success. With over 50 million customers, Access Bank is the largest bank in Nigeria by assets and the largest in Africa by customer base. Ogbonna’s expertise and leadership have earned him recognition as a “thoroughbred and consummate professional” with a “rich professional cum academic background”.

Recent Developments

Interestingly, Ogbonna recently resigned as a non-executive director of Access Holdings, the bank’s parent company, to comply with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s Corporate Governance Guidelines. However, he remains the managing director and chief executive officer of Access Bank.
