The Doko Progressive Forum (DPF), in Lavun local council of Niger State has expressed concerned over a farm land crisis that erupted between people of Boku and Doko communities that claimed two lives leaving several others with varying degrees of injury.
Join our WhatsApp ChannelVice President of the forum, Mr Samuel Saidu Isa Doko, who disclosed this to journalists in Minna, said the crisis could have been avoided, if the two communities had abode by the peace dialogue put together by members of Doko Progressive Forum.
“Our forum has made frantic efforts to mediate between the two communities. We have initiated peace meetings where the two villages were well represented,” Mr Isa Doko said.
Mr Saidu Isa called on the two communities to respect agreement reached at the peace dialogue,adding that no society would make progress in an atmosphere of crisis. He enjoined them to maintain peace with one another so as to move their communities forward.
” Niger State Government need to create avenue for youths in the area to acquire skills and create agricultural schemes. These would go a long way in uniting the two communities.”
Vice President of the Forum urged the stakeholders and community leaders in Doko and Boku not to relent in preaching peace to their people so as to avoid future occurance.
Mr Saidu also disclosed that the Etsu of Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar, stakeholders as well as the Judiciary had, over the years, done all they could to settle the differences between the two communities.
