A member of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) died on Friday during the distribution of Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr palliatives in Tudun Wada Local Government Area, officials said.
The aid distribution was organised by Alhassan Ado Doguwa, who represents Doguwa/Tudun Wada Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, NSCDC spokesperson in Kano State, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said the command had launched an investigation into the officer’s death.
Join our WhatsApp Channel“Yes, it is true. Consequently, the commandant has ordered a thorough investigation into the matter. When we are done, we will release a press statement with the full details of the incident,” Abdullahi told journalists by telephone.
Doguwa said he had been informed that hoodlums attempted to disrupt the distribution exercise, which led to the death of the NSCDC officer.
“I was informed that some hoodlums attempted to cause disorder during the distribution, an incident that resulted in the death of a security officer of the Civil Defence Corps,” the lawmaker said.
He expressed shock over the development and extended condolences to the corps, the family of the deceased and residents of Tudun Wada.
“I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Civil Defence Corps, the family of the deceased, and the entire people of Tudun Wada Local Government Area. May Allah have mercy on him and forgive him,” he added.

The lawmaker called on security agencies to investigate the incident and bring those responsible to justice, while urging the public not to spread what he described as false claims linking him to the attack.
