The match, played at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, saw Nigeria’s captain William Troost-Ekong score a penalty in the 55th minute, giving the Super Eagles an early lead.

Substitute Akor Adams doubled Nigeria’s lead in the 80th minute with a composed finish, marking his debut with a memorable goal. Lesotho’s Hlompho Kalake pulled one back in the 83rd minute, but the Super Eagles held firm to secure all three points.

With this win, Nigeria moves to 14 points in CAF Group C, just one point behind leaders Benin and second-placed South Africa. The Super Eagles will next face Benin Republic on Tuesday in Uyo, a match that could prove decisive in the race for World Cup qualification.
