Prof. Pat Utomi appointed Editorial Board Chairman of Prime Business

Political Economist and Professor of Entrepreneurship, Pat Utomi has been appointed Editorial Board Chairman of online business newspaper, Prime Business.

Prime Business is published by multimedia company, Newstide Publications Limited, which offers reliable sources of news and analyses on social, economic, and political trends and developments in Africa.

A graduate of Mass Communication from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Utomi holds a PhD, MPA, and MA from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. The Nigerian professor of political economy was onetime Special Adviser to President Shehu Shagari.

A former presidential candidate, former Assistant General Manager of Volkswagen Nigeria, and former Vice-chairman of Platinum-Habib Bank, Prof. Utomi has served in various private sector-led associations including Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, and Nigeria Employers Consultative Association. He is the chairman of Poise Nigeria Limited.

Prof. Utomi was a scholar-in-residence at the American University, Washington DC in 1996 and a research associate at the prestigious Harvard Business School in 1996. He belongs to several professional bodies, such as the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Institute of Directors, Nigeria Economic Summit Group, and Nigeria Economic Society.

Speaker and author, Prof. Utomi has written many books, received several awards, and spoken on various subjects ranging from growth economics to comparative development, leadership, oil, and China’s economic surge and growing influence in Africa. He frequently collaborates with the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington and the Chatham House UK.

As a social crusader, he coordinated the establishment of several civil society groups on good governance and accountability such as Transparency in Nigeria, the Concerned Professionals, the Restoration group, and the Centre for Values in Leadership.

Prof. Utomi will bring his wealth of experience in business, economy, politics, and other sectors to bear on the operations of Prime Business.

Newstide is set to unveil Prime Business on the 22nd of June, 2021, by 2pm at a widely publicised virtual launch to be moderated by former Guardian Editor, Mr. Jahman Anikulapo. Board Chairman of Newstide, Dr. Bongo Adi will be speaking on the theme “Debt Burden and Quest for Economic Recovery”. Other panelists are  Prof. Pat Utomi, Ambassador Eloho Otobo, and Eloine Barry.
