Bandits Free 15 Kidnapped Kaduna Students

‏BANDITS have freed 15 kidnapped students of the Bethel Baptist High School, Kaduna.

The bandits had released 28 of the students on in July after N50m ransom was paid.

The President, Kaduna Baptist Conference, Rev. Ishaya Jangado, who is also the proprietor of the school said the kidnapped students were 121 in number.

They were kidnapped in the early hours of July 5, 2021 around 2am at the school premises along the Kaduna-Kachia highway, Damishi, in Chikun Local Government Area of the state.

According to the chairman of the Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. John Hayab, the 15 students were released on Saturday night by the bandits.

According to the school, some students of the school have regained their freedom while others ran away and another set, freed on health grounds.

It was learnt that, as of August 7, at least 80 students were left with the abductors, while about N60m had been spent as ransom by parents to secure the release of some of the students.

Hayab had explained that the bandits later demanded each parent to pay N1m to secure the freedom of the 80 remaining students, bringing the ransom demanded to N80m.
