A disturbing wave of violence has gripped the Ajoni Local Government Area (Ajoni LCDA), where a middle-aged woman was allegedly abducted, raped, and killed by armed criminals.
Shockingly, her killers reportedly demanded an unprecedented ransom that included cash, hard drugs, alcohol, and even two virgin girls to release her body.
The tragic incident occurred across six communities Itapaji, Iyemero, Oke-Ako, Irele, Ijowa, and Ipao which residents describe as effectively under siege. Villagers claim that for years, heavily armed groups, often labeled terrorists or bandits, have restricted access to farmlands, water, hospitals, and main roads, leaving communities isolated and vulnerable.

Her family was contacted with demands that included ₦1.5 million, Canadian Loud (cannabis), cocaine, Mkpuru Mmiri (methamphetamine), and cartons of beer.
Unable to secure all items, villagers raised the cash equivalent. Four men sent to deliver the payment were ambushed and taken hostage, prompting the kidnappers to escalate their demands further, now insisting on two virgin girls alongside additional payments to release the hostages and the woman’s body.
In a plea to President Tinubu and Ekiti Governor Abiodun Oyebanji, community leaders warned that the ongoing abductions and blockades risk escalating into a “genocide” if federal and state authorities fail to act decisively. They criticized the local senator and House of Representatives member for offering condolences without implementing protective measures.

When Government Goes Rogue With Impunity
The pan-Yoruba group Afenifere has verified parts of the report and condemned the kidnappers’ actions. National Publicity Secretary Jare Ajayi described the ransom demands for virgins, drugs, and alcohol as “demonic” and part of a growing pattern of terrorism across Yorubaland.
Ajayi highlighted similar attacks in Ondo, Oyo, Kwara, Abuja, Edo, Plateau, Benue, Borno, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Niger, Katsina, and Kaduna States, including raids on homes, churches, highways, and police stations, with victims ranging from travelers to entire families.
He stated: “The brazenness of these criminals is staggering they demanded N1.5 million, Indian hemp, cocaine, methamphetamine, and beer for a corpse, and even asked for virgins for the release of four abducted men.”
Ajayi stressed that no home is safe, citing attacks where couples were assaulted and people were taken from their homes during prayer. He called for cutting off bandits’ funding sources, including ransom payments, illegal networks, unscrupulous individuals, and corrupt state actors.
Afenifere commended President Tinubu for advancing plans for state police and praised IGP Tunji Disu for forming a committee to implement it. The group urged South-West governors to raid bandit hideouts, maintain surveillance, and cooperate with federal authorities to restore peace.
Residents warn that without immediate military and policing interventions, the siege could worsen, highlighting a growing humanitarian crisis in rural South-West Nigeria, where ordinary citizens continue to bear the brunt of unchecked banditry.
