The United States has terminated all aid to South Africa and revoked the country’s invitation to the 2026 G20 Summit, following a strongly worded statement by President Trump on Wednesday night alleging severe human rights violations against white South Africans.
In a post shared on his official Truth Social handle, President Trump said Washington declined to attend this year’s G20 summit in South Africa because the host government “refuses to acknowledge or address the horrific human rights abuses endured by Afrikaners, and other descendants of Dutch, French, and German settlers.”
Trump accused the South African government of allowing attacks on white farmers, claiming authorities “are killing white people, and randomly allowing their farms to be taken from them,” while asserting that U.S. media organisations have ignored what he repeatedly described as “genocide.”

He added that at the conclusion of the summit, South African officials declined to hand over the G20 presidency to a senior representative of the U.S. Embassy who attended the closing ceremony on Washington’s behalf. Trump described the gesture as a diplomatic affront.
“South Africa will NOT be receiving an invitation to the 2026 G20, which will be hosted in the Great City of Miami, Florida next year,” the U.S. President declared. “South Africa has demonstrated to the world they are not a country worthy of membership anywhere.”
He concluded that the United States would “stop all payments and subsidies to them, effective immediately.”
As of press time, Pretoria had not issued an official response to the U.S. decision or the allegations raised in the president’s statement.
