COAS Orders Intensified Search for Abducted Kebbi Schoolgirls

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has instructed troops of Operation FANSAN YANMA to intensify efforts to secure the release of students abducted from Government Girls Comprehensive Senior Secondary School (GGCSS) Maga, Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area.

The directive, issued on Monday, 17 November 2025, came during Gen. Shaibu’s operational tour of Kebbi State, where he met with frontline commanders and troops.

He urged forces to conduct intelligence-driven operations and pursue the abductors relentlessly, stressing that “success is not optional.”

Highlighting the role of local communities, Gen. Shaibu engaged vigilantes and hunters, describing them as critical partners in the mission. He called on them to use their knowledge of the terrain to collaborate with troops in locating and neutralizing criminal elements, assuring that “together, we will restore peace and ensure children can attend school safely.”

Earlier, the COAS visited the Traditional Ruler of Danko, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Allaje, and the Principal of GGCSS Maga, Hajiya Rabi Musa Magaji, offering condolences and pledging the military’s unwavering commitment to rescuing the students unharmed.

Gen. Shaibu also reminded troops to maintain professionalism, operate within the rules of engagement, and stay resolute in restoring peace to Kebbi State and surrounding areas.
