Troops of Operation MESA under the 3 Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued seven kidnapped victims during a late-night operation in Tsanyawa Local Government Area of Kano State.
A statement issued on Sunday by the Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, Captain Babatunde Zubairu, said the rescue operation was conducted around 11:00 p.m. on Saturday after the troops received a distress call from Yankamaye Cikin Gari village over an ongoing bandit attack.
According to the statement, the joint team comprising personnel of the Nigerian Army, Nigerian Air Force, and the Police swiftly mobilised to the scene, made contact with the armed bandits, and succeeded in freeing seven abducted persons. The attackers had already killed a 60-year-old woman before security forces arrived.

The troops reportedly pursued the fleeing bandits along their withdrawal route towards Rimaye and engaged them with sustained gunfire, forcing them to abandon the victims. However, four other kidnapped persons remain unaccounted for.
The assailants were said to have escaped towards Kankia Local Government Area in neighbouring Katsina State, with security agencies now working to track their movements.
The Commander of 3 Brigade commended the troops for their prompt response and urged residents to continue supporting security operations by providing timely and credible information.
