The President’s plane touched down at the Presidential Wing of Zayed International Airport at 11:30 p.m. local time. At his hotel, President Tinubu was welcomed by several Nigerian ministers, including the Minister of Budget and Planning, Atiku Bagudu; the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Muhammed Muhammed.

Prior to arriving in Abu Dhabi, the Nigerian President concluded part of his end-of-year break in Europe, where he held discussions with Rwandan President Paul Kagame and French President Emmanuel Macron.

The 2026 ADSW, themed “The Nexus of Next, All Systems Go,” runs from January 12 to 18 and brings together world leaders, policymakers, investors, and experts to discuss sustainable development, climate action, energy transition, and inclusive economic growth.

Analysts say President Tinubu’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to renewable energy initiatives and strengthens diplomatic and economic ties with the UAE.

The President’s visit also positions Nigeria as an active participant in global discussions on sustainability and potential investment opportunities in clean energy.
