President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday marked his third year in office with the commissioning of multiple infrastructure and public service projects across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, describing the initiatives as evidence that his administration’s economic reforms are yielding results.
In a nationwide address to commemorate the anniversary of his inauguration on May 29, 2023, Tinubu defended the tough economic decisions taken by his administration over the past three years, insisting that the country is beginning to witness “recovery, resilience, and renewal.”

The President said more than 20 strategic projects spanning energy, healthcare, enterprise, education and public works were commissioned simultaneously across the country as part of activities leading to the June 12 Democracy Day celebration.
“The decisions we have taken since have been difficult but necessary. Today, the signs of recovery, resilience, and renewal are visible across our country,” Tinubu stated.
Among the flagship projects inaugurated under the Midstream and Downstream Gas Infrastructure Fund were compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas facilities aimed at deepening Nigeria’s transition to cleaner and cheaper energy alternatives.
The projects include the FEMADEC Energy CNG refuelling station at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri, described as the first in a planned network of 20 CNG stations across federal universities. Others are the Portland Gas mother station in Ojota, Lagos, with a daughter station in Kubwa, Abuja; the Ibile Oil and Gas network of 15 CNG stations across Lagos State; and Rolling Energy’s RLNG and LCNG facilities spread across Kaduna, Kano and Borno states.
According to the President, the projects are expected to reduce transportation costs, strengthen energy security and expand access to cleaner fuel alternatives for Nigerians.
Tinubu also announced the commissioning of 13 healthcare projects across the country, including six new facilities at federal teaching hospitals.
The health projects include the President Bola Tinubu Complex at the Federal Medical Centre, Abuja; a Trauma Centre Pharmacy Quality Control Laboratory at Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Zaria; an Infertility and Assisted Reproductive Technology Centre at Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, Bauchi; a Mental Health Complex at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital; a new Administrative Complex at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu; and a Laboratory Complex at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital.
Other projects unveiled include State Emergency Operations Centres in Kano, Sokoto and Katsina states, a new Lagos Vaccine Hub in Oshodi, and the National Emergency Medical Service and Ambulance System fleet comprising 145 tricycle ambulances, six boat ambulances and 79 ambulances for federal hospitals.

The President further highlighted the revitalisation of primary healthcare centres under the administration’s IMPACT programme, citing upgraded facilities at Gadon Kaya in Kano State and Aboh in Delta State as examples of broader interventions nationwide.
Tinubu said nearly 3,000 primary healthcare centres had been revitalised in the last two years, alongside 27 Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care sites, 1,602 Level 1 facilities and 1,360 Level 2 facilities.
Additional projects commissioned include the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) Industrial Development Centre in Ikorodu, Lagos, as well as other projects in education and public works.
The President maintained that the projects were tangible proof that the administration’s “Renewed Hope Agenda” was making an impact on citizens’ lives.
“These projects are not ceremonial symbols. They are evidence that the Renewed Hope Agenda is being felt in homes, businesses, schools and hospitals across our federation,” he said.
Tinubu, however, reserved a broader assessment of his administration’s performance for the June 12 Democracy Day celebration, when he said a comprehensive scorecard of his government would be presented to Nigerians.
The President formally declared all the projects commissioned and dedicated them to public service, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to continuing its reforms.
“The work continues. The reforms continue. And our resolve remains unshaken,” Tinubu stated.
