The Nigeria Police Force has ordered the immediate withdrawal of all Special Protection Unit (SPU) operatives attached to Very Important Persons (VIPs) nationwide, following a fresh directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
According to an internal daily order issued by SPU Base 16 in Lagos and dated November 24, 2025, all personnel currently deployed to VIPs and special beats across the federation are to return to base without delay.
The directive, signed by ASP Neji Veronica on behalf of the Commanding Officer of SPU Base 16, mandated affected officers to report back before the end of Monday, November 24, 2025.

The notice further instructs all returning personnel to attend a lecture parade scheduled for Tuesday, with attendance to be taken strictly from the nominal roll.
“This is for your information and strict compliance,” the order stated.
The development comes amid ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to redeploy police manpower toward operational duties and strengthen response to security challenges across the country.
