Dangote Refinery Cuts Petrol Price by ₦100, Diesel by ₦190

Dangote’s Frequent Price Cuts And Ripples Of Intense Competition In Nigerian Fuel Market

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has reduced the ex-gantry price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, by ₦100 per litre, while also lowering the price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), or diesel, by ₦190 per litre.

In a new pricing template issued on March 10, 2026, the refinery announced that the ex-gantry price of petrol has been reduced to ₦1,075 per litre, down from the previous ₦1,175 per litre.

The refinery also introduced a separate price for coastal supply, stating that PMS supplied through maritime distribution channels will now sell for ₦1,050 per litre, reflecting a minor adjustment linked to sea-based logistics.

Similarly, the price of diesel at the gantry has been reduced to ₦1,430 per litre, representing a drop of ₦190 from the earlier price of ₦1,620 per litre.

According to the refinery, the announced prices apply strictly to bulk buyers loading products at the gantry, such as fuel marketers and depot operators.

The company further clarified that the prices do not include statutory charges and levies imposed by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), meaning additional regulatory fees could affect the final pump prices at filling stations across the country.

Industry observers say the adjustment may influence retail fuel prices if marketers pass on the reduction to consumers, although pump prices will ultimately depend on distribution costs, regulatory charges and market competition within the downstream sector.

The latest reduction comes amid fluctuations in the domestic petroleum market and follows recent price adjustments by the refinery tied to movements in global crude oil prices.
