Air Peace Clarifies Abuja–London Flight Disruption, Denies Passenger Abandonment

March 14, 2026

Air Peace Limited has clarified reports circulating on social media that passengers were allegedly abandoned following the return of its Abuja-London flight on Friday, 13 March 2026.

In a statement, the airline said no passenger was left stranded at any point during the incident. The flight returned to Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport after a windshield crack, suspected to be caused by a bird strike, was detected. The return was conducted strictly according to established aviation safety protocols.

“All passengers disembarked safely, and our engineering team immediately commenced technical checks on the aircraft,” the airline said.

Air Peace confirmed that all affected passengers were provided with care in line with standard procedures and global aviation best practices. Options were offered for passengers to either fly the same day via the Lagos–Gatwick route or the following day through Abuja to London.

The majority opted to travel via Lagos free of charge, while others chose the next-day Abuja flight. Hotel accommodations were provided for those requiring overnight stays.

The airline criticized the social media narrative suggesting passengers were abandoned, calling it “inaccurate” and questioning its origin.

Air Peace remains committed to regulatory compliance, passenger protection, and operational transparency, maintaining a strong working relationship with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority,” the statement added.

The airline expressed appreciation for the patience of its passengers and condemned what it described as “deliberate bashing and persistent hounding” over unfounded claims.

“Safety remains the cornerstone of our operations,” the airline emphasized, reiterating its commitment to delivering reliable and world-class air transport services across its domestic and international network.
