Police Launch Investigation After Comedian Broda Shaggi Suffers Gunshot Injury During Skit Filming

March 13, 2026

Authorities have launched an investigation after popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Broda Shaggi, was hospitalised following a shooting incident that reportedly occurred while he was filming a comedy skit near the Sango-Ota bridge area in Ogun State.

The entertainer, whose real name is Samuel Perry, was said to have sustained a gunshot injury during the production with members of his content team.

Verified Sources said the comedian was rushed to a private medical facility in the Alakuko area of Lagos shortly after the incident for emergency treatment before being transferred to Duchess International Hospital in Ikeja for further medical care.

Confirming the development, the Lagos State Police Command said it became aware of the case after medical personnel notified authorities that a gunshot victim had been brought to the hospital.

Police spokesperson Abimbola Adebisi said officers who visited the hospital established that the victim was the well-known comedian, who reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Adebisi noted, however, that the location where the shooting allegedly occurred falls outside Lagos State’s jurisdiction, suggesting the incident may have taken place within neighbouring Ogun State.

The Ogun State Police Command has since commenced efforts to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident, including identifying those responsible for the attack.

Authorities said investigations remain ongoing as officials work to determine how the shooting occurred and whether the comedian was specifically targeted during the skit production.

Broda Shaggi is one of Nigeria’s most recognisable digital comedians, widely known for his satirical characters and street-style humour that have earned him millions of followers across social media platforms.
