Dangote Refinery Hikes Petrol Price to ₦1,175 per Litre

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a sharp increase in its ex-depot price for Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), raising the cost to ₦1,175 per litre as of Monday, March 9, 2026.

This marks the third petrol price hike in one week.

The new price represents a ₦180 increase from the previous ₦995 per litre announced just days earlier. Diesel prices at the refinery have also been adjusted upwards, reaching ₦1,620 per litre from around ₦1,430 per litre.

Industry analysts warn that the ex-depot price increase will likely translate to higher retail prices at filling stations, potentially reaching ₦1,400 to ₦1,500 per litre in some areas. The adjustments are attributed to volatility in global crude markets and rising replacement costs.

 

This latest move comes amid ongoing concerns over inflation and the cost of living in Nigeria, with fuel price hikes expected to impact transportation fares and the price of goods and services across the country.
