Ekiti, Osun Polls Will Test APC Strength Ahead of 2027 – Oyintiloye

March 10, 2026

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said that the outcome of the 2026 governorship elections in Ekiti State and Osun will serve as a major test of the party’s strength ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Oyintiloye, a former lawmaker, stated this while speaking with journalists on Sunday in Osogbo.

According to him, the APC must secure victory in both states to strengthen its chances in the nationwide elections scheduled for 2027.

He explained that strong performances in the Ekiti and Osun governorship contests, expected to hold on June 20 and August 15 respectively, would reinforce political momentum for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the next general polls.

“The Ekiti and Osun elections will serve as a litmus test for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections in the country,” Oyintiloye said.

“The two are very crucial for the APC because they will be conducted a few months before the general elections. The party must win the two states.”

He added that victories in both contests would boost the party’s confidence and strengthen its standing within Nigeria’s political landscape.

Focusing on the Osun governorship race, Oyintiloye described the election as particularly significant for the party, noting that the APC is determined to reclaim power from the incumbent administration led by Governor Ademola Adeleke.

The APC chieftain expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious, citing what he described as effective coordination and collaboration among party leaders in the state.

He listed prominent figures working towards the party’s success to include former interim national chairman of the APC, Bisi Akande; Minister of Marine and Blue Economy and Osun APC leader, Adegboyega Oyetola; the party’s National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru; and the state chairman, Tajudeen Lawal.

Oyintiloye also expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate in Osun, Alhaji Bola Oyebamiji, describing him as capable and widely acceptable among party members and stakeholders in the state.

He, however, appealed to aggrieved party members to put aside their differences and work collectively for the party’s victory in the forthcoming polls.

According to him, the contributions and unity of all members would be crucial to the APC’s success in the elections.
