Kemi Omotosho Steps In to Redefine MultiChoice Nigeria’s Future

January 14, 2026

Kemi Omotosho has officially taken the reins as Chief Executive Officer of MultiChoice Nigeria, marking a new chapter for the pay-TV giant as it navigates rising competition, digital disruption, and shifting consumer expectations.

She succeeds John Ugbe, who is retiring after nearly 15 years at the helm, leaving behind a legacy of expanding MultiChoice’s subscriber base and consolidating its market leadership in Nigeria, Prime Business Africa reports.

With over 20 years of experience across media, telecommunications, and digital businesses in Africa, Omotosho brings a track record of transforming customer engagement and operational performance. She previously led customer value management in Nigeria, supervised strategies across more than 50 African markets, and most recently managed Southern Africa’s seven-country operations, overseeing full profit-and-loss responsibilities.

Omotosho’s educational background an Executive MBA from Lagos Business School and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from the Nigerian Institute of Management complements her hands-on experience, enabling her to blend strategic thinking with operational insight. Known for her results-oriented and customer-centric leadership, she is expected to spearhead initiatives that reimagine MultiChoice Nigeria’s role in a fast-changing entertainment landscape.

Her appointment also reflects broader strategic moves by MultiChoice Group, following its integration into Canal+ Africa operations, which have prompted leadership reshuffles to drive efficiency and growth across the continent.

Analysts note that with Omotosho at the helm, MultiChoice Nigeria may shift from reactive operations to proactive innovation, particularly in digital transformation and local content development, setting a roadmap for a sustainable and competitive future.
