Tinubu Picks Plateau-Born Clinician Bernard Doro to Join Federal Cabinet

President Tinubu has forwarded the name of Dr Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State to the Senate for confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The nomination, confirmed in a State House press release signed by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, was officially transmitted to the Senate on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

Dr Doro’s nomination follows the elevation of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, who previously served as Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, to the position of National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.

Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr Doro brings over two decades of multidisciplinary experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community engagement in both Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

He holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice. Dr Doro is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with extensive frontline experience in the UK’s National Health Service (NHS), where he worked across urgent care centres, general practices, walk-in clinics, and hospitals.

Beyond his professional background, Doro has been active in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives, particularly in diaspora and local communities.

 

While the exact portfolio he is being nominated to oversee has not yet been disclosed, the letter sent to the Senate seeks his confirmation as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

If confirmed, Dr Doro will represent Plateau State in the Federal Executive Council, replacing Prof. Yilwatda.

His nomination underscores President Tinubu’s ongoing commitment to appointing professionals with diverse global experience to drive reforms within his administration.
