Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has effected a leadership transition at its Enugu/Anambra/Ebonyi Area Command, with Comptroller F. A. Bodunde taking over from Comptroller Comfort Senas Ukpanah (Retd) in a formal ceremony held on Thursday.
The development signals continuity in the Service’s revenue drive and trade facilitation efforts across the South-East, a region seen as critical to cross-border commerce and the federal government’s non-oil revenue ambitions.

Ukpanah urged personnel to sustain their commitment to integrity and service above personal interest, stressing that collective effort was central to the Command’s progress.
In her response, Comptroller Bodunde pledged to consolidate on the gains recorded by her predecessor, aligning her leadership with the Comptroller General of Customs Bashir Adewale Adeniyi’s mantra of collaboration, cooperation, and innovation.
She identified revenue generation and trade facilitation as top priorities, emphasizing that the Command’s performance directly impacts national revenue and the ease of doing business. “The success of one is the success of all,” she said, while calling for synergy, transparency, and professionalism among officers.
Bodunde also charged personnel to remain ambassadors of the Service through discipline and integrity. She commended the Customs management for its continued support in welfare and promotions and expressed appreciation for her predecessor’s contributions.
By assuming office, Bodunde is expected to steer the Command toward strengthening border security, boosting trade flows, and further raising the revenue profile of the Service in the South-East.
