President Tinubu on Thursday in Abuja received Letters of Credence from 17 ambassadors and four high commissioners, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to fostering international cooperation, peace, and economic growth.
Speaking at the State House Council Chamber, President Tinubu urged the diplomats to collaborate closely with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on areas of mutual interest, emphasizing his administration’s open-door policy.
“On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I warmly welcome you to the State House and congratulate you on your appointments as the official representatives of your respective countries,” the President said. “Your accreditation today reaffirms the depth of our bilateral ties and our shared commitment to expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.”

He encouraged the diplomats to deepen engagements in trade, energy, agriculture, education, technology, defense cooperation, and cultural exchange.

“The global community faces evolving challenges security threats, climate pressures, economic instability, and humanitarian issues. Nigeria is ready to work closely with your governments to promote peace, stability, and prosperity,” he said.
Representing the diplomats, the Ambassador of Japan, Suzuki Hideo, described the occasion as historic. He praised President Tinubu’s leadership, particularly his economic reforms and efforts to enhance national security.
“With keen interest, we commend your bold reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s fiscal framework, attract investment, and promote inclusiveness,” Hideo said. “Nigeria today stands as a beacon of resilience and promise, contributing significantly to economic prosperity and political stability in ECOWAS and across Africa.”
The ambassadors presenting their letters included representatives from Japan, Chad, Gabon, Türkiye, Palestine, Spain, Indonesia, Mauritania, Austria, Thailand, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Liberia, Poland, Italy, Slovakia, and Iran. High commissioners from Bangladesh, Ghana, India, and Barbados also presented their credentials.
The event underscores Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to strengthen diplomatic ties and international cooperation under President Tinubu’s administration.
