Soludo Applauds Grassroots Backing in Idemili North

October 17, 2025

Governor Chukwuma Soludo has praised residents of Idemili North Local Government Area for their growing civic participation and community-led development initiatives, describing the district as “a vital force in Anambra’s transformation story.”

Speaking at the flag-off of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) local government campaign in Nkpor, Soludo expressed heartfelt gratitude to the people for their consistent support ahead of the November 8 governorship election, recalling their strong turnout in the 2021 polls.

“We are here to ostensibly say thank you. In 2021, Idemili North gave us a decisive victory,” the governor told the cheering crowd. “Something phenomenal is happening in Anambra where communities are sponsoring campaigns by themselves. The people are taking over the movement, it is the people’s campaign.”

The governor, visibly moved by the enthusiastic reception, lauded Idemili North stakeholders for their continued loyalty to APGA and for their active role in local governance and development.

“I appreciate the stakeholders of Idemili North. In all sectors, Anambra is rising,” Soludo said, adding that his administration remains committed to transforming the state “from a departure lounge to a destination.”

Beyond the campaign rhetoric, Soludo used the visit to spotlight the importance of community partnership in governance, a theme he had earlier emphasized during his stop in Ogidi, where he commended residents for initiating flood-control measures and donating land for public projects.

During that visit, verified reports by The Nation and Independent newspapers quoted the governor as hailing Ogidi residents for enforcing the creation of catchment pits in their compounds to reduce flooding and for setting aside fenced land for a proposed government primary school.

He assured that construction of the school would commence before the end of the next month and that new drainage and erosion control works in Ogidi, Owelle Aja, and Obosi were already nearing completion.

Soludo maintained that his administration is addressing the environmental lapses inherited from past governments, noting that the state’s ongoing drainage works would now terminate properly into natural water channels.

“We are determined to fix these problems once and for all,” he said, stressing that the government’s infrastructure drive would be sustained across all local government areas.

At the Nkpor rally, the Mayor of Idemili North, Engr. Stanley Nkwoka, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Community Affairs, Mr. Asha Nnabuife, both commended the political awakening among the people. They noted that attendees at the event were drawn directly from polling units across the local government a reflection of the growing grassroots engagement in Anambra’s political process.

Various groups, including Solution Teachers, market vendors, One Youth Two Skills beneficiaries, and tricycle (Keke) operators, also used the occasion to appreciate the governor for what they described as his administration’s “transformational strides” across education, youth empowerment, and infrastructure development.

Reaffirming APGA’s commitment to credible electoral conduct, Soludo declared that the forthcoming poll would be guided by transparency and fairness.

“Our message is simple one man, one vote,” he said.

The governor’s visit to Idemili North combined elements of political outreach and governance review, reinforcing his administration’s focus on community collaboration, participatory development, and sustainable growth across Anambra State.
