Peter Obi Alleges Ongoing Trespass On Brother’s Demolished Property In Ikeja

June 28, 2025

Former presidential candidate and Labour Party leader, Mr. Peter Obi, has raised fresh concerns over what he described as continued illegal encroachment on a property belonging to his younger brother, Ndibe Obi, in Ikeja, Lagos.

In a statement via his X handle on Saturday, Obi disclosed that legal counsel for Next Foods Limited, acting on the instruction of his brother, who is the CEO, has taken legal action against what he termed an “unlawful demolition” of the property.

According to him, the land was demolished following an allegedly deceptive court order obtained by a trespasser.

“The legal counsel to Next Foods Limited, acting on the instruction of the company’s CEO, my younger brother, Ndibe Obi, has taken the matter to court over the Ikeja property that was unlawfully demolished after a trespasser misled the court into granting an unjust possession order,” Obi stated.

He alleged that the same individual behind the demolition exercise is now attempting to erect a fence on the land under suspicious circumstances.

“I have now been informed that the same trespasser, under the cover of night, is erecting a fence within the premises in an apparent attempt to divide the land into two. The secrecy and desperation surrounding this act speak volumes,” he said.

He condemned the move as an “act of impunity” and “a direct assault on the rule of law,” stressing that the latest actions are intended to undermine ongoing court proceedings.

Obi, however, expressed confidence in the judiciary’s ability to deliver justice. “Fortunately, the matter is now before the court. We trust that justice will not only be done, but be seen to be done swiftly, decisively, and in full accordance with the law,” he concluded.

The property, located in the prime area of Ikeja and has become the center of a contentious legal battle involving allegations of trespass, demolition, and now, encroachment.

The Lagos State Government had issued a statement denying involvement in the demolition of the property.
