Israeli forces struck facilities belonging to the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) in Tehran as the U.S.-Israeli military campaign against Iran expanded and the United States signaled a prolonged operation.
Iranian state media showed smoke and debris rising from the broadcaster’s complex in northern Tehran. Iranian authorities confirmed the facility was hit but said precautionary measures helped prevent immediate casualties.
Before the strike, the Israeli military issued evacuation warnings to residents in areas surrounding the IRIB complex. The notices, communicated in Persian, urged civilians to leave designated zones ahead of the attacks. Israeli officials said the warnings were intended to reduce civilian harm as strikes targeted what they described as infrastructure linked to Iran’s security and communications apparatus.

Speaking in the White House’s East Room, President Trump said U.S. military projections estimate the operation in Iran could take four to five weeks but added that American forces have “the capability to go far longer than that.”
Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Caine, briefing alongside Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, said U.S. forces expect to endure additional casualties. “Accomplishing objectives will take some time,” he said, adding that in some cases the campaign would involve “difficult and gritty work.”

The briefing followed reports from U.S. Central Command that a fourth U.S. service member had died from injuries sustained during Iran’s initial retaliatory strikes over the weekend, a toll that later rose to six. Central Command also reported that three U.S. fighter jets were mistakenly shot down by Kuwait amid active combat, though all six crew members safely ejected. The State Department is urging Americans to depart the region.
As the conflict entered its third day, Iran continued attacks on multiple Persian Gulf states. Lebanon’s Hezbollah responded to the killing of Iran’s supreme leader, Ali Khamenei, with rocket and drone strikes on Israel, prompting retaliatory Israeli attacks in the suburbs of Beirut and other strongholds of the Iranian-backed group.
Satellite imagery captured Monday of Iran’s Natanz nuclear complex shows damage to three buildings, providing the first visual evidence of how U.S. and Israeli strikes have affected Iran’s nuclear program.
With additional U.S. troop deployments underway and both sides signaling sustained operations, international leaders have renewed calls for restraint, warning that the conflict could further destabilize the region and prolong civilian and military suffering.
