Iran is experiencing a near-total internet blackout.

Independent monitoring groups report that nationwide connectivity has dropped to approximately 4 % of normal levels, leaving most citizens without access to online services or communication channels.

While Iranian state media had previously indicated that Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was expected to address the nation, the blackout has severely limited the ability of citizens and global media to receive live updates.

Monitoring organizations such as NetBlocks note that the disruption affects not only international internet connectivity but also domestic mobile networks and messaging services, echoing past measures by the Iranian regime during periods of unrest.

The move is widely interpreted as an effort to control the flow of information amid unprecedented military operations.

The blackout has left Iranians largely cut off from the outside world, preventing the sharing of firsthand reports or verification of events, and intensifying fear and uncertainty among the population.

International observers warn that the combination of military escalation and information suppression could further destabilize the region in the hours and days ahead.
