Integrity First: ICPC Chairman Tasks Newly Elevated ASPs on Ethical Conduct

March 2, 2026

The Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Adamu Aliyu, SAN, has admonished five police officers serving with the Commission to uphold the credibility of their new rank following their promotion to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP).

The officers, who are on secondment from the Nigeria Police Force, were formally decorated at a ceremony held at the Commission’s headquarters, in keeping with the Force’s tradition that allows the head of a host agency to perform promotion decorations for seconded personnel.

The newly elevated ASPs Amazama Dennis, Andrew Aliyu Maro, Danladi Embaga, Caleb Gabnok and Elizebeth Akor rose from the rank of Inspector after successfully participating in the recent nationwide promotion exercise.

Represented at the event by the Commission’s Secretary, Mr. Clifford Okwudili Oparaodu, DSSRS, the ICPC Chairman described the promotion as both recognition and responsibility, stressing that the honour must be matched with exemplary conduct.

He reminded the officers that the insignia pinned on their shoulders symbolises public trust and professional accountability, urging them to remain steadfast in discipline, respect for hierarchy and adherence to lawful duties.

According to him, integrity remains the cornerstone of service at the ICPC, and any act capable of undermining the Commission’s reputation would not be tolerated.

Oparaodu, speaking on behalf of the Chairman, reinforced the warning against complacency, stating that diligence and ethical conduct are non-negotiable within the anti-corruption agency.

The promotions form part of a broader exercise conducted by the Police Service Commission, which on January 29, 2026, approved the elevation of 26,119 Inspectors to the rank of ASP nationwide. The Commission said the process followed written examinations and oral interviews designed to ensure merit and competence.

Police authorities have described the development as a key component of ongoing efforts to strengthen capacity, reward performance and enhance professionalism within the Force.
