President Tinubu Felicitates Former President Obasanjo on 89th Birthday

President Tinubu has extended warm felicitations to former President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo as he marks his 89th birthday on March 5, Prime Business Africa reports.

In a statement, the President described Chief Obasanjo as an elder statesman whose influence has left an indelible mark on Nigeria, Africa, and the international community.

President Tinubu highlighted the former leader’s remarkable journey, recalling his tenure as military Head of State from 1976 to 1979, during which he handed over power to a civilian government, and later as Nigeria’s first civilian president of the Fourth Republic from 1999 to 2007.

He also praised Obasanjo’s courage and sacrifices, noting his leadership in preserving national unity during the civil war, his imprisonment for challenging tyranny, and his continued advocacy for Africa’s political and economic progress.

“As Chief Obasanjo turns 89, we acknowledge the zeal and wisdom he has contributed to Nigeria’s development through his writings and interventions, reflecting a deep patriotism and commitment to nation-building,” President Tinubu said.
