NCDMB Seals Radisson Deal for 204-Room Hotel in Yenagoa, Targets December 2026 Opening

March 4, 2026

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) has signed an International Management Agreement (IMA) with Radisson Hospitality Belgium and Edison Hotel and Property Development Company for the operation of its 204-room hotel and conference centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The agreement, executed on Monday in Durban, South Africa, formalises Radisson’s role as the international operator of the facility, which is being developed adjacent to the Nigerian Content Tower in Swali, Yenagoa. The hotel is scheduled to open in December 2026.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Executive Secretary of NCDMB, Engr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, disclosed that negotiations, compliance reviews and regulatory processes for the agreement lasted over two years. He noted that approvals were secured from key stakeholders, including the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Olasunkanmi Fagbemi.

According to him, the legal backing ensured the agreement aligns with Nigeria’s regulatory and statutory requirements.

Ogbe said the project is designed to deliver a world-class hospitality and conference facility capable of serving stakeholders in the oil and gas industry, as well as the wider Nigerian public.

He pledged the Board’s commitment to delivering the project on schedule, stressing that NCDMB would uphold construction quality, funding obligations, safety and security compliance, pre-opening readiness, and adherence to Radisson’s global standards.

“We appreciate our responsibilities and will do our best to meet our obligations,” he said, while urging Radisson to deploy its global expertise, systems and brand strength to guarantee quality service and guest experience.

Ogbe added that the partnership reflects NCDMB’s broader strategy of leveraging strategic investments to boost productivity, attract capital inflows, deepen local content and expand opportunities for business and tourism.

“When completed, the Radisson Hotel & Conference Center Yenagoa will stand not only as a hotel, but as a symbol of what strong partnerships can achieve,” he said.

Executive Chairman of Edison Corporation, Mr. Vivian Reedy, described his company’s role as a bridge between the project owner and the operator. He highlighted the group’s experience in hotel development and management, emphasising governance, transparency, accountability and performance alignment.

“A successful hotel is not just about buildings. It is about disciplined management, strong oversight, brand integrity, and a shared commitment to excellence,” he said.

Reedy stated that Edison would ensure the asset is delivered and managed in a way that protects the owner’s investment while supporting Radisson in achieving operational excellence. He added that the company’s previous collaborations with Radisson in other locations recorded occupancy rates as high as 95 per cent.

He expressed confidence that the Radisson Hotel and Conference Center, Yenagoa, would emerge as a leading hospitality and conference destination in Bayelsa State and serve as a catalyst for business and investment in the region.

Also speaking, Mr. Wada Ahmed Wada, who represented the Attorney-General of the Federation at the event, described the signing ceremony as historic and wished the parties a successful business relationship.

The 204-room facility is expected to strengthen Yenagoa’s hospitality infrastructure and complement the Nigerian Content Tower, reinforcing the city’s role as a hub for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
