The Department of State Services (DSS) has arrested a medical doctor alleged to be a key courier supplying pharmaceutical drugs to kidnapping gangs operating across parts of Kwara State.
The suspect, whose name has not yet been disclosed, was intercepted in the Jebba area of Moro Local Government Area after intelligence reports linked him to the movement of medical supplies from Sokoto State to criminal hideouts in Kwara.
According to verified security sources, the doctor had been ferrying painkillers, antibiotics and other essential drugs used to treat wounded kidnappers many of whom reportedly sustained gunshot injuries during recent confrontations with security forces.

Officials told reporters that the arrest represents a breakthrough in dismantling the logistics networks enabling the survival of armed kidnapping syndicates. “These gangs are growing desperate for medical attention after sustained pressure from security agencies. Cutting off their supply lines is crucial,” a senior security official said.
The Kwara State Government confirmed the development, describing it as a “significant disruption” of the support system behind the state’s kidnapping operations. Chief Press Secretary Rafiu Ajakaye said authorities would continue to work with federal agencies to “dismantle all networks, collaborators and enablers” assisting the criminals.
Security officials have also warned health workers and medical facilities situated in or near forested and remote areas to heighten vigilance. They noted the possibility that kidnappers or their medical couriers may attempt to infiltrate rural clinics for treatment or drug supplies.
The DSS has begun a detailed interrogation of the suspect to determine whether he is linked to a larger medical-support network aiding kidnapping syndicates across the North-Central and North-West regions.
Investigations are ongoing.
