With a week left until the 10th edition of the BLAKEY’s National Tax Conference, organisers have announced an expanded lineup of speakers for the annual event, which comes just days before Nigeria’s major tax reforms take effect on January 1, 2026.
The conference is scheduled for Friday, December 12, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Banquet Hall, Banex Mall, Lekki, Lagos.

According to the organisers, the conference is designed to offer free, practical tax education to professionals, business owners, and citizens as the country transitions into a stricter compliance regime under the new reforms.
The programme will feature six experts across taxation, finance, technology, and public policy.

The original speakers include Dr. Adetayo Hassan, FCA, a fiscal governance expert and former Bursar of Lagos State University; Chief Blakey Okwudili Ijezie, FCA, FCTI, FIMC, CMC, founder of the “Taxation Without Fear” initiative; and Mr. Emeka Atuma, FCA, a specialist in data and artificial intelligence in tax administration.
New additions to the lineup are Mr. Edima Ben Ekpo, FCA, former Deputy General Manager at United Bank for Africa Plc; Mr. Femi Sowemimo, FCA, partner at Kenneth Odusanya & Co.; and Engr. Joe Nwakwue, former Special Adviser to the Minister of Petroleum Resources.
Organisers say the expanded panel will strengthen discussions around the 2026 tax regime, which introduces updated compliance procedures and new digital taxation rules.
The conference will feature sessions on corporate and personal tax rights, SME and startup incentives, digital tax compliance, and ombudsman procedures for tax dispute resolution.
Participation is free, with complimentary conference materials and lunch for registered attendees.
Speaking ahead of the event, Chief Blakey Okwudili Ijezie said the conference aims to demystify the new tax laws for Nigerians. “With only days left before Nigeria enters a new tax era, this conference is timely and essential. Our goal is to ensure that taxpayers and practitioners embrace 2026 with clarity, confidence, and full understanding of their obligations and rights,” he said.
